Bollywood’s most respected actor Pran, whose fame lies is in his villainous and character actor roles, dies today (12th July, 2013) in Mumbai at Lilavati Hospital. He was 93. As per the reports, the legendary actor was admitted to hospital around a month back. Pran’s daughter says that the actor was not well and was weak. She goes on telling that his health was decreasing day by day.
In May this year, the actor was awarded with country’s most prestigious award Dadasaheb Phalke. But since due to his bad health, the actor was unable to travel, his award was conferred to him at his residence in Mumbai.
The movies like Zanjeer, Karz, Naseeb, Amar Akbar Anthony, Kashmir Ki Kali, Upkar and Don will always make him alive among his fans and Hindi moviegoers.
Pran started his cinematic career as a hero in Punjabi movies and then turned to Bollywood where he showed his marvelous acting skills to the film industry and the masses. Pran gave a new touch and style to villain. The style made his real famous in Hindi film industry and among movie fans. Pran’s confident style with continuous cigarette’s puffing made him unique.
From Zanjeer onwards in his career, he made a brilliant combo with Amitabh Bachchan in various movies. On Amitabh’s 70th birthday, Pran specially came to attend it last year in October. Pran’s last Hindi movie was Mrityudaata released in 1997.
Pran left behind his widow Shukla, daughter Pinky and two sons – Arvind and Sunil.
