Much-awaited Dil Dhadakne Do’ eventually hits the screens today. Excel Entertainment always comes up with something unique and this time again the banner brings up the different content to watch on screen, which is lavish and lively. Let’s check out if the film succeeds in gaining the attention of the viewers and would it be a box office igniter or will go just flat at theaters?

Zoya Akhtar’s directed venture ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ begins with the dysfunctional Mehra family’s introduction. Kamal Mehra (Anil Kapoor) is a self-made successful businessman. His wife Neelam Mehra (Shefali Shah) is the one who is packed with tongue in cheek and sarcastic one liners all the time. Both have vivid and vast differences, but before the world, they always portray to be the best couple. Their daughter Ayesha Mehra (Priyanka Chopra) is a successful entrepreneur, who runs an online travel portal. Kabir Mehra (Ranveer Singh), Kamal’s son, is a carefree guy, who heads AYKA Industries, which was once successful but now is struggling in the market. Kabir loves flying since he has his own private plane. The family also has a dog called Pluto Mehra (voiceover by Aamir Khan). By the time the family learns that its business has started getting losses and the stake of the business in the market too has begun downing, they get into trouble. A lavish party is thrown out at ‘Pullmantur Sovereign Valleta’ cruise liner for the celebration of Kamal and Neelam’s 30th wedding anniversary. Kamal and Neelam takes the advantage of this party by tying up a business relationship with another business tycoon Lalit Sood (Parmeet Sethi) by getting their son Kabir engaged with Sood’s only daughter Noorie. But destiny has something else in store, as Kabir bumps into a London based Muslim artiste Farha Ali (Anushka Sharma). Kabir falls in love with her from head to toe. Farah is not happy with her marriage and cannot pretend to be a loving wife of her egoistic husband Manav (Rahul Bose), since she loves a journalist Sunny Gill (Farhan Akhtar). What happens next is what forms the climax of the film.

Dil Dhadakne Do Stills-01

Zoya Akhtar very skillfully manages to direct this film that binds the viewers from start to end. The characterization is simply awesome. Story is brilliant and screenplay by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar is brilliant though few faults are found, but they are not much noticeable. Editing needed to be crispier, as the length is quite long. Cinematography is eye-pleasing. The locales of Europe catch the breath. Music is spongy, but the lacking of a chartbuster does harm the movie.

Anil Kapoor stands tall with his bravura performance. His new avatar with salt n pepper tresses look fetch attention and makes his classy. Ranveer Singh shows delivers superlative performance. Priyanka Chopra is a class to watch. Anushka Sharma is luminous in her part. Farhan Akhtar delivers the goods well. Shefali Shah is a treat to watch. Others too do full justice to their respective characters. Aamir Khan’s voiceover for the dog is mind blowing.

Dil Dhadakne Do Stills-02

Final Verdict:

On the whole, Dil Dhadakne Do is a classy family drama that talks about relationships and compromises. The film is packed with lively content to watch with eye-candy cinematography and mind blowing performances. A MUST-WATCH.
