Sarbjit Movie Synopsis – A Sister’s Struggles to Release Brother from Prison

The film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda and Richa Chadha in main leads and talks about the story a sister who struggles hard to get her brother released from a Pakistani jail. The film has been produced by Bhushan Kumar, Vashu Bhagnani and Sandeep Singh and been directed by . Aishwarya plays the pivotal role in this film.

Dalbir Kaur (Aishwarya Rai) is the elder sister of Sarbjit Singh (Randeep Hooda), who is a farmer from Bhikhiwind in Punjab – located merely 5 kilometers away from the Indo-Pakistan border. In 1990, while farming Sarbjit crossed the border unintentionally after having couple of drinks. He was mistaken as an Indian spy and was given capital punishment in 1991. Sarbjit was locked into Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore and remained there for 23 years till his death when he was killed by jail inmates. Dalbir always treated her brother as her son. She only got to meet him thrice in 23 years. Kaur made her life’s agenda to get her brother freed from the jail in Lahore. What happens to her struggles to take her brother out of the jail is what the film is all about.
