Satya 2 arrives on the scene today. The film is being called the sequel to Ram Gopal Varma’s earlier film ‘Satya’’, but in actual, it’s not the one since the movie carries a different story altogether. Ram Gopal Varma is famed for making brilliant gangster films and he undoubtedly has the mastery of the art. RGV has given us many a hit movies in the past like Satya, Rangeela, Company and Sarkar. But in the genre of gangster or underworld movies, no one can challenge his authority since he seems the best in the art. There are resemblances being made with RGV’s Telugu film Businessman, but when you watch the film, you find nothing that makes the resemblance with the Telugu movie.

By the time when all and sundry start thinking that there is no presence of underworld, Satya (Puneet) comes into the scene and arrives in Mumbai, where he reinvent and re-establish his world of crimes. With his simple motto, Satya wants to be the undisputed don of the city. He generates his company of criminals and then executes his master plan. To spread the danger and terror in the city, he eliminates the three key figures of the city – Police Commissioner, a leading industrialist and a powerful media baron.

Setting aside the gruesome violence and plenty of bloodshed (as seen in underworld movies), Satya 2 is more to get power. RGV also makes his leading man suave this time around. His underworld don, contrary to his earlier gangster movies, is polished this time. He is clever and intellectual – he uses his mind cleverly making strategies.

Satya 2 is laced with rich style that appeals to the masses. The plot is different from RGV’s previous gangster movies and this is the best thing of his latest offering. The screenplay is powerful and catches the attention. There are nonetheless some mistakes, as the songs seem to be forcibly forced into the narrative. The movie of this kind should be devoid of songs whereas it carries the tracks.

Editing seems okay. Cinematography is brilliant. Music is just about ordinary. Direction is first-rate and binds the viewers to the screen till the climax.

Punnet Singh Ratn delivers his job with such finesse that you cannot help getting impressed by the actor’s skills. Anaika is fine. Mahesh Thakur is in his elements. Rest of the cast is good to watch.

Final Verdict:

On the whole, Satya 2 is Ram Gopal Varma’s different gangster movie that appeals the hearts. It’s not a masterpiece, but will work with the audiences. Krrish 3 is a big hurdle in its business.
