Zila Ghaziabad, Sajay Dutt’s awaited flick, has come up today. The film was well in talks for more reasons and the audiences were eager to watch it on screen.  Sanjay Dutt’s macho look too is among many reasons of this film’s wait. The macho man of Bollywood industry though has turned old, but still he possesses demand and liking by his fans. Where his comedy is loved by the audiences, the people also love him enacting the action packed roles and the same he has done in today’s release ‘Zila Ghaziabad’.

The film carries no novelty at all. The film borrows heavily from various Bollywood movies such as from the yesteryear’s movies and Salman Khan’s Dabangg. While watching the film, you start thinking as if you are watching a film of 80s era when you stumble upon the action on screen. The pace of the film often disturbs you a lot. The script of the movie is the big culprit, as it is not novel and carries hardly anything to allure your souls. Besides the duration of the film is also stretched. There was no need to stretch the film in post interval portion of the movie – the culmination should have been done earlier.

arshad-zila ghaziabad-showbizbitesZila Ghaziabad is packed with action and bloodshed and if you match the film with the gang movies of Ram Gopal Verma, you can do it since the flick surely walks on the lines of Verma’s gang films. By borrowing the contents from various movies, Zila Ghaziabad has been compiled to dish out for the Hindi audiences. You can even term it a compilation of Hindi movies.

All time and tested formulas have been injected in the narrative to make a product which can easily work on the celluloid. But why a filmmaker and a writer in particular forget that only the time and tested formulas are not enough to make an alluring cinematic venture rather the dexterity of the art of executing the subject on silver screen is required to develop the interest of the audiences.

Zila Ghaziabad talks about the two rival groups – one is led by Ravi Kissen and other is by Paresh Rawal. Arshad Warsi leaves Paresh’s group for Ravi’s group. Vivek Oberoi comes up to be violent and spread bloodshed when his brother (Chandrachur Singh) is killed by Arshad Warsi. Both groups are on big war. The situation turns violent. Administration has to intervene by sending the strapping muscular cop (Sanjay Dutt) to eradicate this war and restore peace in Ghaziabad.

Anand Kumar’s execution is just about okay. You know what will happen next on screen by the time the movie begins. The director cannot generate the suspense element where the audiences can use their mind to think what to happen next. Instead the viewers are aware of the happenings on screen. Thus where the director’s role is?

Vinay Sharma’s script is simply the destruction of the film, as it has flaws and is not novel at all. Kanal Kannan’s action is average. Music of the film has no oomph value and is strictly below average. Bunty Nagi’s editing is not up to the mark.

geeta-itemsong-zilaghaziabad-showbizbitesSanjay Dutt’s performance is average. The experienced actor does not succeed in impressing his audience at all. He enacts like Salman’s acting in Dabangg. It does not suit this to the actor of his caliber. Besides the director and the writer should have thought over the matter before writing and attempting his character in the film. Arshad Warsi is the only man who impresses with his negative role. Vivek Oberoi is okay. The actor is losing his charms. He should focus on rebuilding his career else he will have to take route to back home. Paresh Rawal is adequate. Ravi Kissen is okay. Minissha Lamba is wasted. Geeta Basra and Shreya Saran’s item songs are not appealing though all of these three actresses add glamour to the film. Rest of the cast is average.

Final Verdict:

In a nutshell, Zila Ghaziabad is a badly executed film with run of the mill script and below average performances. Skip it. One and Half Stars Awarded.
