ALONEALONE Movie Review

Bipasha Basu’s horror fiesta ALONE is dished out today. Well, there has been plenty of noise about this horror cum steamy venture in the media and the masses were waiting for the release. Since the seductress Bipasha Basu is in the main lead and she is now a famed name in the genre of horror films, the eyes were focused on this film. The promos of the movie and the songs laced with abundance amount of steamiest content have no doubt raised whopping amount of curiosity for the movie. But now the question is whether the film will live up to the expectations of the viewers and whether it would be able to allure the critics as well or not. Let’s now analyze the flick.

First things first – ALONE is the remake of a Thai film with the same title. The desi version has been churned out by the man who looted the hearts of the masses with Sunny Leone starrer (horror laced with adult content film) Ragini MMS 2, Bhushan Patel. Well, without any single doubt Ragini MMS 2 had made big waves at the box office and the likings for the film from the audiences were commendably mammoth. But this time around, Bhushan seems to be lacking in his elements with ALONE.

The film talks about the story of Sanjana (Bipasha Basu) who returns to Kerala with her husband Kabir (Karan Singh Grover). She goes there after her mother meets an accident. Sanjana is the survivor between the conjoined twins and she returns to her home after many years. At her home, she starts getting the old life memories and she also stumbles upon with her twin sister Anjana’s spirit and she is the only one who can feel her presence there. Sanjana shares this with her husband, but he is of the view that her love for the sister makes her feel so. Soon, these delusions lead her on the brink of breakdown. Kabir now takes the action and takes her to a psychiatrist friend. What happens next is what forms the climax of this horror saga.

Although the film is a remake of a Thai film with the same title, but no novelty has been added to this flick. These kinds of movies we have watched abundance of times on Hindi film screen. Bhushan Patel could not impress the audiences at all. The horror quotient seems missing – hardly you get scared in this film. The screenplay is average. The credit goes to Sheershak Anand and Shantanu Ray Chibber, who could not make a gripping script to entice the viewers. The promos showed good amount of steamy scenes, but in actual, you get fewer ones. But yes, the kissing sequences are in plenty and they are enough to boil the blood. Cinematography is fine. Music is enthralling and plays well with the ears.

Bipsha Basu is the only rescuer of this film. She has now become a name synonymous to horror genre. She shows that she is a brilliant kisser in this film. Her acting is fabulous. Karan Singh Grover is a fine actor, but needs to work a bit on his expressions. Rest of the cast is average.

ALONE-01

Final Verdict:

On the whole, ALONE is a waste of time and money. It is a below average film that hardly contains horror moments. And if you are planning to enjoy heavy amount of steamy scenes, then stay back home since you will bump into few. But yes, you may enjoy the seductive kissing a lot in this film.
