Amitabh Bachchan awarded the 2nd Yash Chopra National Memorial Award at a recently held ceremony where the who’s who came to attend and adorn the event. The event was held at JW Marriot in Mumbai. This award was instituted by the famed statesman and MP, Dr. T Subbarami Reddy in the memory of late well-known Director Yash Chopra in association with Anu and Shashi Ranjan. Amitabh was much excited by receiving this honor, as the legendary actor has worked with the late director in many movies in his long career.
This award is conferred every year to the notable personality of the industry for his or her marvellous contribution to the entertainment fraternity. This year the jury comprising of Anil Kapoor, Hema Malini, Dr. Reddy and Simi Grewal decided Amitabh Bachchan’s name for the award. Last year, the award was conferred to the legendary Bollywood singer Lata Mangeshkar.
It was a real nostalgic moment when the Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan was crowned with this prestigious award. The personalities who came to this event included Shri Ch. Vidyasagar Rao (Governor of Maharashtra), Former Union Minister Shri Susheel Kumar Shinde, Union Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar along with the other guests of honour Shri V N Dhoot (Chairman & Managing Director, Videocon Industries Ltd.) and a host of celebrities from TV and Film industry.
The celebrities who adorned this nostalgic event included Mrs. Pamela Chopra, Simi Garewal, Anushka Ranjan, Jaya Pradha, Jugnu with Amitabh Gupta, Madhoo Shah, cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin, Himalaya with Bhagyashree Dassani, Ellie Aviram, Kiran Shantaram, Arjun Bajwa, Rumi Jaffery, Adnan Sami with Roya Farabhi and many others.
