Go Goa Gone (2013) Movie Review was being awaited by the cinegoers and as the film hits the screens, the review is ready for you to grab it. Let’s read on the critic review of the movie written by Film Critic Goher Iqbal Punn.

Go Goa Gone is not the typical Bollywood formula film at all. The movie carries the content which has never been attempted in Hindi film industry before. It is a zom-com that has been brought onto the Bollywood screen for the first time. The effort is appreciable and the credit goes to the directors of the movie – Krishna D K and Raj Nidimoru. We have witnessed one thing that for last few years or so, Bollywood filmmakers have been on way to experiment new concepts and few of them have really succeeded and worked big time. Among those few is undoubtedly the horror content which has been working high among the Hindi cine lovers.

The zombie comedy Go Goa Gone too is a unique concept which has been presented on celluloid and hopefully it will be liked and applauded by the moviegoers. Romantic, comedies, action and musical movies are what are called the time and tested formulas in Bollywood film industry. The producers felt safe on spending money on these kinds of subjects. But they felt reluctant on investing money on the subjects of other natures. But when few showed courage and their films turned out to be hit, the big wheels and all then followed.

Go Goa Gone too will be a path breaking concept and it seems post the success (as it seems that it might get good business at the box office) of the film, others will begin following the concept.

In Hollywood, we often see and have been watching zombie comedies. The movies on zombie and zom-com are churned out in plenty over there. And the same would hopefully start happening in Bollywood industry soon.

Go Goa Gone talks about the three friends who gatecrash a rave party happening in an island in Goa. Later they find themselves being attacked by zombies by next morning when they wake up.

The trio of fun seeking pals – Hardik (Kunal Khemu), Bunny (Anand Tiwari) and Luv (Vir Das) joins in Luna (Puja Gupta) and they all slip into a race party in an Island in Goa. The host of the party is a Russian Don Boris (Saif Ali Khan). The magic of the night, drinks and drugs all enthrall the friends and when they get up next morning, they find themselves being attacked by the zombies. Boris comes in to save them but all seems wasted since the zombies are quite hard to eliminate them.

The film’s concept – part hilarious and part scary is what gets the viewers eyes fixed on the screen. The humor quotient too has been injected with gusto and conviction. The scary moments too are nail-biting. The story is novel and these kinds of subjects have to be used in Hindi film industry. The script written by the trio of – Krishna D K, Sita Menon and Raj Nidimoru is really attention-fetching and mind boggling. There are few dull moments in the second half, but the overall taste of the film is delicious. Direction by – Krishna D K and Raj Nidimoru is first rate and the interesting this about the execution of the script on the celluloid is that the viewer hardly gets bored.

Music by Sachin-Jigar is catchy and few of the songs are really good to hear. Cinematography is wonderful. Editing is accurate. Action has been dolled up nicely.

Saif Ali Khan’s avatar of a bleached look – a blonde man works with the audiences. He carries the movie on his shoulders though other cast members’ performances too are marvelous. Kunal Khemu does a fine job. Anand Tiwari is good to watch. Vir Das is nice. Puja Gupta is stunning and acts well. Others too display their histrionics.

Final Verdict:

On the whole, Go Goa Gone is a thorough entertainer from all aspects. It is an experiment that needs to be appreciated and applauded. A brilliantly executed zom-com, the film could work great at the box office.
