Has Saif Ali Khan Lost His Stardom? Know the Answer

By Goher Iqbal Punn, Film Critic & Entertainment Analyst, Showbiz Bites

saif ali khan-showbizbites-01After the box office failure on 1st weekend of Happy Ending, the question hits the mind whether Saif Ali Khan has lost his stardom? Apparently and from his last few outings, it seems so and the answer to this question too seems ‘yes’. But nothing can be predicted, as his upcoming movies could change everything and his fate at the box office. The time will decide more about this actor, whose last 100 crore club movie was Race 2.

Today is the time when every actor and filmmaker wants the film to enter into 100 or 200 crore club and the same surely is wanted by Saif Ali Khan, who is the actor cum co-producer of Happy Ending. But his all hopes and expectations have turned down – now he cannot even think of this movie to cross 50 crore mark either.

The opening of Happy Ending is even lower of all his last movies such as Agent Vinod, Bullet Raja and Humshakals. Saif’s latest offering Happy Ending could only earn 4 crore (domestically) on its 1st day and it was the lowest earning out of all his last movies. Agent Vinod earned 9.60 crore on 1st day and Bullet Raja earned around 7 crore in Indian circuit. Sajid Khan’s Humshakals opened with 12.50 crore (1st day in domestic market). Well, Sajid’s film is the best of all as far as the opening is concerned, but that too could not make any mark at the box office and went flat. So, all of these so far movies of Saif Ali Khan – Agent Vinod, Bullet Raja, Humshakals and now Happy Ending happened to be dud at BO – that means box office doesn’t lie and truth comes out at ticket windows.

Happy Ending just earned 14.50 crore on first weekend, it means it is far low earning than the bare minimum expectations. It is now going to lose its worth in coming days. Now the question again comes to mind ‘Has Saif Ali Khan lost his stardom?’ The answer so far is ‘yes’. But what you guys say, let’s share with us.
