Bollywood has started turning towards making films on unique subjects and now we watch the movies, which were once considered to be taboo on Indian celluloid. It shows the growth of cinema industry and also reveals the facts that Hindi cinema now competes with its counterpart Hollywood. Well, hackers’ movies are the ones which are often made in Hollywood cinema and they are applauded much higher. In Bollywood, rarely have we seen the films on these subjects. Mickey Virus is an attempt towards this unique subject and it certainly should be applauded with big hands. The first-time director’s effort is appreciable.
The film’s backdrop is set in Delhi and often we see when the movies with a backdrop in Delhi are made in Bollywood, they turn out to be successful. Mickey Virus has potential to be one of them.
Mickey (Manish Paul) is a sharp-minded guy who creates viruses and quirky software with his friend Chutney (Puja Gupta) at night and in day’s routine, he runs her mother’s grocery store. The twist in the tale takes place when ACP Siddharth (Manish Chaudhari) hires Mickey’s services to hack something big.
The first half of the film largely focuses on Mickey and his friends. There are also focuses on Mickey and his love interest Kamyani (Elli Avram). The film gathers momentum in second half when the viewers’ eyes get fixed on screen.
Debutante director Saurabh Varma does his job of direction brilliantly. There are moments, when the film turns out to be sluggish, but they are ignorable when a plotline is catchy. Script by the director is gripping and convincing. Music is strictly below average. Editing is fine. Cinematography is first-rate.
Manish Paul does a fine job as an actor in this film. Elli Avram makes her debut in Bollywood and looks gorgeous. She needs to have grip over acting. She can see her career in Bollywood provided that she sharpens her acting skills. Puja Gupta enacts well. Manish Chaudhari looks well with his part. Varun Badola is impressive. Rest of the cast fills the bill as well.
Final Verdict:
On the whole, Mickey Virus is an impressive film that holds the attention of the viewers.
