Abhay Deol is a truly fine actor without any doubt. Whenever this actor comes on screen simply leaves an impression on the viewers’ minds, souls and hearts. With his brilliant acting prowess and charming personality, this fine actor always impresses. Although Abhay is not rated among the top notch leads of Bollywood fraternity, but among those who are called brilliant and fine actors, he must hold his place. The choice of subjects, he makes, always makes him distinguished and whether the movies run well or not at the box office, his acting talents are always appreciated.
This time, Abhay Deol turns producer for One By Two. His debut as a producer should be applauded. Not only does he sit on producer’s chair, but also acts as a leading actor in One By Two that has been directed by Devika Bhagat.
The best thing about this flick is that it holds a unique kind of concept that literally hits the hearts. Although there are some flaws in the script, but overall essence is what you would surely be enjoying watching this flick on screen.
The film talks about a simpleton Amit Sharma (Abhay Deol) who is on way to get his girlfriend Radhika (Geetika Tyagi) back in life, who leaves him for her own selfish reasons. There is another plot that runs parallel to Amit and Radhika story – this is of Samara Patel (Preeti Desai), who is a British citizen and an aspiring dancer. She pursues her dreams along with an alcoholic mother (Lilette Dubey) and a boyfriend (Yudhishtar Urs). She wants to make a career in Indian entertainment industry.
As mentioned above, the storyline seems unique and id not a clichéd Bollywood content though you find many run of the mill episodes in the narrative. Screenplay is fabulous though there are few flaws that disturb. The first half of the movie is lethargic and you even get bored at few episodes. Post interval portion carries interest and you start enjoying the movie. Story and screenplay credits go to the director Devika Bhagat, who does a fine job as a writer.
Execution of the subject on screen is first rate. Music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is pretty ordinary. Cinematography is awesome and editing is simply poor, as the film has been stretched for no reasons.
Abhay Deol impresses with his acting prowess. Preeti Desai is simply magical. Geetika Tyagi is okay. Rati Agnihotri is first rate. Rest of the cast is fine as well.
Final Verdict:
On the whole, One By Two is an impressive and attention-fetching cinematic venture that holds values.
