Piku Movie Review-01Piku Movie Review

Much-promoted and talked about Piku arrives today. The movie has been well in news due to the odd pairing of Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan apart from film’s catchy looks and all that. Since it is Shoojit Sircar’s movie, eyes were focused on the release to see what Piku had in store for the real entertainment of the viewers, as Shoojit brings up something brilliant every time he comes up with his latest venture. From the word go, Piku is a simple tale of a Bengali family and how its life goes on. Let’s now review the film.

Piku begins with a Delhi based girl called Piku (Deepika Padukone) – she is all the time busy with her office works, her colleague Sayyed Afroze (Jishu Sengupta) and her doting father Bhaskhor (Amitabh Bachchan) who is all the time worried about constipation problems. Life is quite dull with her and her family. Thus, a decision is made to go to Kolkata for a change and to come out of the existing monotonous situation. The Banerjee family now goes on a road trip to Kolkata, since Bhaskhor does not want to go by air because of his constipation problems. The car rental company is unable to find a driver, thus the owner Rana Chaudhary (Irrfan Khan) has to drive the family to Kolkata. On their way to Kolkata, the love develops between Piku and Rana. On reaching to Kolkata, Banerjee family stumbles upon a tragedy. What will happen to them afterwards and what happens to Piku and Rana’s love are what churn out the climax of the movie.

Shoojit Sircar is famous for bringing up something enticing and unique and this time around, he again brought up the cinematic venture that is simple yet appealing. The execution is simply marvelous that you cannot take your eyes off the screen. The story is brilliant and the screenplay is gripping. The credits for the story and script go to Juhi Chaturvedi. Editing is fine. Cinematography is fabulous. Dialogues are catchy. Music is soothing.

Deepika Padukone once again shows that she is a box office igniter with her classy and luminous acting skills. She is a brilliant actress Bollywood has in today’s time. With this author-backed role, she does a bravura job. Amitabh Bachchan is simply awesome. He is a legend and a maestro. The same he showed in this role. You enjoy watching him on screen in this cute role. Irrfan Khan is always a class to watch. Same is the case with his character in Piku. Rest of the cast is fine as well.
