Well, the most controversial actress Veena Malik’s Super Model eventually releases today with no big noise at all. Many of the publications even do not consider the film to be reviewed. In short, the film was not given importance and it was released on low scale. Since there is no big name attached in the starcast, it is Veena Malik’s show all the way. One thing is clearer from the outset that the director just wanted to pour all the attention and revolve the story on and around Ms. Malik, which is why Super Model is Veena’s show all the way. It is obvious that Veena was taken aboard just because to get benefits from her controversial personality. Yes, this kind of gimmick works, but with a convincingly gripping story and best performances, which unfortunately Navin Batra’s film does not carry at all.

Veena relies heavily on her skin-show and yes, she is popular for her act of revealing the body. But she has to understand the fact that eventually what works in Bollywood and to stay in Bollywood, one has to possess and reveal the acting skills. With body-show, you may get few chances to get onboard, but you cannot sail through the waves in future and make your career in the industry if devoid of acting prowess. Ms. Malik made waves in Indian entertainment industry with her plenty of skin-show acts few years back and since then she has been on the scene. But still she is unable to fetch a prominent project in movies so far. To get one, she has to show her acting skills putting aside the hot body she possesses.

A wine baron (Harsh Chhaya) is on way to seek supermodels for the endorsement and launch of his new wine brand. He recruits a photographer (Ashmit Patel) to doll up this job who organizes a talent hunt in Fiji where she stumbles upon an upcoming model (Veena Malik). She is in competition with other gorgeous models who too are on way to sign a deal. But soon, other contestants begin to be killed one by one.

The script carries nothing novel at all. We have grown up watching this kind of subject numerous times on Hindi screen. The writing carries many flaws. Navin Batra is the one who is behind the writing and direction of this film. He fails to impress on both fronts. There is no heart-warming and attention-fetching moment in the movie. Film fails on all departments.

Veena Malik is there to reveal her body only. You do not have to expect a good piece of acting from her. Ashmit Patel is just about okay. Harsh Chhaya is impressive. Jackie Shroff is good to watch. Rest of the cast is average.

Final Verdict:

On the whole, Super Model is waste of time and money. It does not carry any entertainment value at all. Skip it.
