Shankar’s I has well been in news since the time the movie’s promotions have started happening. The film is actually in Tamil and has been dubbed in Hindi for Hindi audiences. Shankar’s movies always get noticed due to their unique storylines and the treatment this man gives them. I is no exception as well. It is laced with unique plot and technologically advanced treatment which gets the viewers glued to the screen till the end.
Shankar’s previous movies such as Sivaji – The Boss and Robot have made the audiences mad and have worked big time at the box office.
I kicks off with the abduction of Dia (Amy Jackson) by the time she is about to getting married. The abductor looks a weird and strange type of man. He is Lingesan (Vikram). To make the viewers learn as to why he kidnapped the bride to be Dia, the viewers are shown the flashbacks. Lingesan is a hard working bodybuilder. He wins Mr. Tamil Nadu championship and now dreams of winning the title of Mr. India. He is mad about Dia and is completely obsessed for her. Dia is a model. She has been getting harassed by her fellow model John (Upen Patel). Dia finds Lingesan and makes him a supermodel. There is a revelation in the story that forms the climax of the film.
Shankar is a marvelous storyteller and he proved it once again with this film. He came up with out of the box idea that should be praised highly. The film is high on technical aspects. The VFX and the technology used in this movie are splendid.
Screenplay has some flaws, but they are ignorable. Editing could have been crispier. Cinematography is fine. Music by A R Rahman is just average.
Vikram is the life of the film and he does his act with super brilliance. Amy Jackson is fantastic in her part. Others are fine to watch.
Final Verdict:
On the whole, I is not exceptional but is worth watching. Enjoy the brilliance of VFX and the novelty in story.
