R…Rajkumar is out to entertain you. But the big question hits the mind whether it has potential to allure the hearts or not. Well, the answer you will get while you read on the complete review to the movie. The film has been making waves on all the channels since quite some time and there have been promotional activities too witnessed for creating hype for the movie. Directed by the king of masala entertainer Prabh Dheva, whose movies mostly work big time at the box office and among the masses, R…Rajkumar fails to register any impact on the minds and hearts of the moviegoers. It is called the worst movie of Prabhu Dheva’s directorial career so far. This time around, the man fails to generate any oomph with his outing. From the film promos, it was vivid that the film would hardly make an impression on the cinegoers. And the same took place. The film has nothing to offer to its customers.
Bollywood is quite filled up with the remakes of south Indian movies and majority of them work great at the box office. South Indian movie’s magic is quite seen in Bollywood films these days. Well, this is another issue, which will be discussed some other time. R…Rajkumar interestingly and luckily is not the remake of any south movie. This time Prabhu came up with new idea (new in a sense that it is not a remake). But the plotline is again old. The story is not novel at all, we have seen this numerous times in Bollywood and even south movies. 80s style movies have started being made in Bollywood these days. And even the current masala entertainers too remind us the movies of 80s and 90s. And R…Rajkumar is no exception at all, this too treads along with that style of films.
Luckily, Shahid Kapoor’s last outing ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’ worked better at the box office though that was also made with 90s style storyline. But luck worked for the actor. But he is unfortunate this time around with latest offering R…Rajkumar that could not spell magic with the audiences at all and will not do so hopefully since viewers today are quite intelligent and they ofcourse will not want to waste their money on poorly made movies with nothing enticing at all.
Rajkumar (Shahid Kapoor) works for a drug dealer called Shivaji (Sonu Sood) and is given the task to eliminate Shivaji’s rival drug dealer (Asish Vidyarthi). But before he goes on slaughtering the drug delaer, Rajkumart falls for Chanda (Sonakshi Sinha), who is the niece to the drug dealer. Meanwhile, Shivaji too loses his heart for the girl and now he wants peace with his rival and shows the desire to marry the girl.
The story, penned by Prabhu Dheva, is colossally poor. Screenplay by Prabhu Dheva and two other writers – Sunil Agarwal and Ravi S. Sundaram too is a big failure carrying so many flaws. Editing too is poor. Cinematography is just about okay. Music by Pritam is below average – only one track ‘Gandi Baat’ works well with the movie and music lovers. Rest of the album is poor.
Prabhu Dheva’s execution too is not workable and drops the magic of the film altogether. Shahid Kapoor does not attract with his acting skills, only his dancing qualities impress. His action looks weird and out of mind. Sonakshi Sinha does not allure as well. This would be her second back to back box office failure – last week Bullet Raja bombed at the box office and now hopefully R…Rajkumar too would be added to her failed movies’ list. Sonu Sood is okay. Ashish Vidyarthi is fine.
Final Verdict:
On the whole, R…Rajkumar is the worst film from all aspects. It is highly recommended that you must stay away from it. Save your money and precious time.
