Rating: 1 out of 5 stars (1 / 5)

Much-hyped Action Jackson eventually lands on theaters today. The film carries no novelty from the word ‘go’. Prabhu Deva, who seemed quite satisfied with the best outcome of this film, will now disappoint for sure since it carries nothing great to impress the audiences. Bollywood often makes the movies with the formulaic subjects and also the movies are churned out with mixed subjects, Action Jackson walks on the same lines – used old formulas and mixed plots have been injected into the script.

Remember, today’s audience has grown up. People live in the age of modernization, sophistication, technological advanced scenario and they have mind which they use when they do something. Why the masses are made fools with the same old formulas being injected into every other movie? Why not to bring innovative ideas when you spend a lot of money on a project, which later will have to give your invested money back and then profit? Grow up and be business-minded – the simple advice if anyone wants to take!

Anyway, Prabhu Deva’s Action Jackson is a poor show all the way carrying the stuff you have watched unlimited time on screen. The plot reminds you of the 80s and 90s eras stories. No effort has been made in generating a catchy and innovative script at all.

Action Jackson tells the story of Vishy (Ajay Devgn), who is introduced in his usual style on screen. Till the interval, you are blind as to what has been happening with him – why the goons are after him? Why is he being traced all the time? In between, he bumps into Khushi (Sonakshi Sinha). By the time the interval comes up, viewers learn the actual reason of the chase of goons. Vishy mirrors the face of AJ, who is a killer by profession. Vishy and AJ then meet and AJ explains him the reasons. AJ refused marrying the dreaded don Xavier’s (Anand Raj) sister Marina (Manasvi Mamgai). And from then afterwards, the goons are after him to slaughter him. He now plans a plot to destroy Xavier and his mad sister to save him, his wife Anusha (Yami Gautam) and newly born baby.

Well, after reading this story, do you find anything new in it? Honestly…not at all! Apart from the old story, the film’s direction too is very poor. It carries south flavor which Prabhu Deva has brought along with him in Bollywood. He should now have forgotten it. You might have found the same in his previous Bollywood movies. But they nonetheless worked big time due to strong content. But sadly, Action Jackson does not have content value.

The first half is really poor, as it makes you confused as to what is happening on screen and what are the reasons behind all happenings? Post interval portion too is nothing catchy at all. You just start thinking – why the time and money has been wasted on this mundane cinematic venture? Editing should have been crispier. Cinematography is something better. Music is simply below average. Background score is plain average.

Ajay Devgn has done nothing great in this film at all. The actor, whose acting skills are always praised, falls flat this time around. Sonakshi Sinha gets typical role, which she has been getting in majority of her movies so far. She is called the leading actress of this film, but she does not get a meaty role. Manasvi Mamgai makes a poor debut and just shows plenty of skin show that does not work at all. Yami Gautam is okay in her cameo. Anand Raj is average. Others are just about okay.

Final Verdict:

On the whole, Action Jackson is a poor film from all aspects. There is nothing you can praise of. Thus, it is highly recommended to stay away from this cinematic product.
