Well, finally much-awaited Humpty Sharma Ki Dhulhania has hit the screens today. Karan Johar’s production has been promoted colossally before the release. When a big banner is behind, the marketing and promotions are always higher and the same happened with this Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s starrer film. Debutante director Shashank Khaitan borrows the concept from Aditya Chopra’s magnum opus blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, but adds his own flavor to his product as well to suit the taste of today’s viewers.
The best thing about Humpty Sharma Ki Dhulhania is the onscreen chemistry of the principal characters – Varun and Alia that simply hits the hearts and souls. The story is simple yet interesting – boy bumps into a girl, falls for her and then the strict parent comes in. But Shashank does not let you get bored for a moment at all since the film is thoroughly entertaining from start till the end.
Kavya Pratap Singh (Alia Bhatt) is a vivacious bubbly girl from Ambala. She leaves for Delhi for her marriage shopping, where she bumps into a carefree boy Humpty Sharma (Varun Dhawan), who loses his heart to her. Initially, as it happens in Bollywood movies, he finds hard to woo the girl. With the help of his two friends – Shonty (Gaurav Pandey) and Poplu (Sahil Vaid), he starts succeeding in his mission. Once they start spending time together, they start getting closer to each other. Kavya then leaves for her home to Ambala. She knows her father Mr. Singh (Ashutosh Rana) will not accept Humpty at all. Humpty with his two friends leave for Ambala to get his love. What happens next is Humpty’s struggles for getting his love.
Shashank’s screenplay leaves less to find faults and that is the beauty of the script. Direction is simply awesome and gripping. Viewer hardly finds any time to take the eyes off the screen. Although we are well aware of the story and the proceedings already since we have watched number of movies of this genre on screen in past, but the entertainment factor of this film makes you extract joys from the proceedings on screen.
Neha Parti Matiyani’s cinematography is top notch. Editing is fine. Music is spongy – Samjhawan and Saturday are the picks of the lot.
Varun Dhawan has shown his skills of good acting once again on screen. He shows he is here to stay and make his mark in Bollywood. He is a good entertainer and now the audiences know it. Alia Bhatt is a fabulous actress and with each movie she shows her class. She delivers the best act in this film. Ashutosh Rana is simply superb. Rest of the cast is first rate.
Final Verdict:
On the whole, Humpty Sharma Ki Dhulhania is a big entertainer, which is a MUST-WATCH. It will certainly fetch in big business at the box office. Wait and see the money coming up and up.
