Yaariyan is out now. The film that has been targeted to youth has been in news due to its catchy music that has been alluring the listeners a lot. The music is chartbuster and this is music of the movie that generated the oomph value and likeliness for the film among the cine aficionados. The film is directed by Divya Kholsa Kumar, who is the ex-Bollywood actress and now the wife of the T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar. We have seen Divya in the movie ‘Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Sathiyo’. This is Divya’s directorial debut and it has been quite in talks since the time it was announced. Had the movie not carried spongy and chartbuster music, it would not have attracted the eyeballs and the attraction it now gained. The magnetism has come in plenty – courtesy the good music. Behind the production is ofcourse Divya’s husband Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.
College movies often work big time among the youth in particular. In recent times, the likes of Student of the Year too did fabulously well at the box office. And now comes Yaariyan. Well, we have also noticed that now the filmmakers show their trust on newcomers by giving them the leading roles in the film. Just pick up the examples of Aashique 2 and Student of the Year. Now Divya Kholsa Kumar shows her trust on the newcomers for Yaariyan. Now this trend of fetching newcomers in big banners or renowned banners would catch the strength – it is good. Earlier, newcomers used to get chances only in low budget movies or they used to rarely get chances to display their histrionics in big banners. Well, it’s good that biggies now show their trust on newcomers – thanks to the successful movies, which gave the trust to the filmmakers.
Yaariyan tells the story of five college students, who are summoned by the principal who give them the responsibility of saving the college campus from getting this college turning into a resort. A foreign investor wants to convert this college into a resort. The deal comes up. And as per the deal, the Indian students have to outdo their Australian counterparts in mental abilities and physical test. The friendship in the ends turns out to be victorious.
The storyline is enticing and holds the attention and attraction. The script is well penned though there are flaws in it such as in the first half of the movie, you start getting bored among all the fun and liveliness in addition to the professors’ romance which seems forced. The post interval portion is what is the life of the movie. The contests grab the attention and boil the blood in veins.
Divya Khosla Kumar writes the story and deserves brawny points for writing such a fine story. She also shares her mind with Sanjeev Dutta for writing a screenplay that is well-written and holds values. Direction by the debutante director Divya Khosla Kumar is fantastic and brilliant. Music by Pritam and horde of other musicians is what is called the actual life of the film. It is simply chartbuster and because of it, the movie succeeded in gaining the noticeability. Editing is fine. Cinematography is top notch.
Although the film carries the beginners on board, but they display the acting skills just like the experienced in field. Great! Himansh Kohli does brilliant. Rakul Preet is fabulous to watch. Serah Singh is luminous. Nicole Faria is adequate. Rest of the cast is appropriate in their parts. Gulshan Grover and Deepti Naval portray their characters well.
Final Verdict:
In a capsule, Yaariyan is a lively movie and makes you refresh. It is a big treat for the college students and youngsters.
