Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has been the center of talks since long as the movie carries Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone on board. The songs of the film have also made the movie much popular among the moviegoers who were waiting for the release. The chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone is always liked to watch on screen.
Ayan Mukherji returns with his second outing after his directorial debut Wake Up Sid. Ayan’s power lies in his brilliant characterization and this is what makes him unique and this is what YJHD also carries to raise the spirits of the viewers. Like Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani too carries the well-maintained characters. In addition to characterization, Mukherji luminously focuses on the story and it depicts from this new venture in plenty.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is a rom-com and the best thing about the movie is that it does not take a routine time and tested formula of romantic comedies to push the proceedings on rather it develops into sophisticated style and manner. There are no unwanted and unnecessary characters, songs and sequences slipping into the narrative and this surely hold values.
The film talks about the life of four college friends – Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor), Naina (Deepika Padukone), Aditi (Kalki Koechlin) and Avi (Aditya Roy Kapur). They are fun-loving and carefree with laughter all the time on all of them. Bunny is a flirt type of guy whereas Naina is shy and focused on her studies.
The movie carries all – fun, laughter, comedy, romance and emotions. It is a journey of these four characters from carefree to developing into maturity. Ayan makes everything very clear for the viewer and every scene gets the viewers glued to the screen. There are hardly any dull moments into the movie and this is the specialty of the director and the writing department. Ayan not only impresses with direction, but also lures the viewers’ souls with story and screenplay of the film. He shows his class in both departments with conviction.
Cinematography is first rate. V. Manikanandan attracts with the job – the locales have been captured with quality. Music of the film is simply awesome. Pritam deserves distinction points for the catchy composition. Many of the songs have been topping the charts like Badtameez Dil, Ghagra and Balam Pichkari.
Ranbir Kapoor is the ice-cream of this romantic treat. He is the center of attention and attraction of this cinematic product. He steals the hearts with his brilliant acting skills. Deepika Padukone is superlative. She shows she has big potential as an actress and she can excel in the job by getting top notch place in the industry. Kalki is fine. Aditya Roy Kapur, after Aashiquie 2, impresses with his character. Kunal Roy Kapur is fine as well. Farooq Shaikh delivers the goods superbly. Rest of the cast is alluring also.
Final Verdict:
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is a lively and refreshingly catchy movie to spell magic with your hearts. Although it is targeted to the youth, it is equally watchable and brilliant for all age-groups. The movie will bring in mammoth box office business for the investors.
