Shortcut Romeo (2013) Movie Review is dished out and you guys can grab it to learn the worth of the film. Let’s read it.
Neil Nitin Mukesh’s Shortcut Romeo releases today. The movie will design the future of this falling actor called Neil Nitin Mukesh, as he has not been doing great in film front since long. His film career has been declining for ages and he desperately needs a hit to get on board. Neil must be focusing on this flick to be a box office hit. Well, the film has potential to be a hit – there is absolutely no doubt about it. The film is a remake of the film director Susi Ganesh’s own Tamil successful movie ‘Thiruttu Payale’.
Susi’s expertise is vividly shown in the film. He does not make the Hindi remake as it is rather he modifies the movie to fit to the taste to the Hindi audiences. The film is about a guy who seeks shortcuts in life to lead a comfortable and luxurious life – no matter how it comes. Susi is a brilliant story teller and this is vivid from his works in Tamil movies. The director makes a good and decent Bollywood debut with Shortcut Romeo.
Suraj (Neil Nitin Mukesh), who is called a good for nothing guys, lives in Goa from where he comes to Mumbai where he sees a couple enjoying lovemaking in a golf course. He shoots the lovemaking game of the couple and then begins blackmailing them. It is an extramarital affair between the couple – Monica (Ameesha Patel) and Ashish (Bunty Grewal). The couple does not mind paying Suraj to make the video and their affair secret from Monica’s husband (Rajesh Shringarpure). But the blackmailing keeps happening. Monica has no option but to agree with the terms of Suraj. Suraj then meets Sherry (Puja Gupta) and starts loving her and the love changes the guy. But Monica is now geared up to settle scores with Suraj. The game of cat and mouse chase begins.
Shortcut Romeo reminds us of yesteryear’s movie ‘Bezubaan’ starring Rena Roy, Shashi Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah. In the movie Naseeruddin Shah plays blackmailer and the story goes like Susi’s Shortcut Romeo. Nonetheless Susi’s flick is a great watch with the taste of today’s cinema.
Script is well-penned and holds attention. Although there are few flaws but it goes fine with the viewer in totality. The best part of the script is that the climax is surprising. Direction is mind boggling – it binds the viewers till the climax. Susi Ganesh deserves full marks for both script and direction. Dialogues are fine. Editing should have been finer. Cinematography is fabulous. Music by Himesh Reshammiya is spongy. Khali Dua Salam is heart-warming and mellifluous.
Neil Nitin Mukesh delivers the goods fantastically. The actor desperately needed a good film to save his career from drowning, Shortcut Romeo will be the rescuer. He shows his talents in the movie. Ameesha Patel in a negative role is simply marvelous. She is a scene stealer. Puja Gupta is brilliant. Others too impress with their parts.
Final Verdict:
Shortcut Romeo is a brilliantly executed film with good script, power-packed performances and skillful direction. Do watch this thriller.
