Super Nani – from the word ‘go’ is a super boring and time waste cinematic venture that has to be avoided since it has nothing great to offer to the ones who buy tickets to get entertainment. Although, the movie has been targeted as drama plus entertainment, but sorry to say the film turns out to be boring from tip to toe.
Well, there were no expectations at all for this movie to work among the cinemagoers. And still the expectations are same. The film, as was predicted in my prediction report, still could go providing that it gets good word of mouth and positive reviews. Well, the majority of the reviews came up below average or negative for the film. And now you can judge as to how Super Nani can entertain you?
The film talks about a sixty something grandma whose foreign-returned grandson transforms her into a woman of substance.
Bharti Bhatia (Rekha) is the grandma of Mann (Sharman Joshi) who returns to India to meet his Nani. She gets relegated to the kitchen by the family that includes Bharti’s husband R K Bhatia (Randhir Kapoor), her son, her daughter-in-law and an irritating daughter. Mann then decides to transform his Nani into a woman of substance. This is what Super Nani has to deliver.
First half of the movie is utterly boring and one wants to slip from theater. The miser grandma with grey hair is shown. The second half then shows you how the grandson takes her to beauty salon, etc to transform her style and look. Nani then turns out to be a woman of substance who then keeps on showing you her acting skills pretending to be like movie greats such as Nargis, Madhubala and Waheeda Rehman.
Story and screenplay both spoil the movie and Vipul Mehta is the culprit for the same. Director Indra Kumar, whose past records includes the hits and superhits, this time around disappoints utterly. Editing is below average. Music is simply boring.
Rekha must have thought very carefully before signing this project. Her comeback had to be something that slips into the hearts of her fans and moviegoers. Well, her wrong decision would play wrong for her career moves in future. As for her performance, she is okay. Radhir Kapoor does not attract at all. Sharman Joshi is average. Rest of the cast is just about okay.
Final Verdict:
On the whole, Super Nani is a pretty much boring fiesta that has to be avoided in order to save the hard-earned money and precious time.
